The Liminar projectby Dansa Metropolitana brings new life to buildings from our architectural heritage which stand on the threshold between past and future, transforming them into exceptional spaces for staging free dance performances.
There are a wide range of these lesser-known architectural treasures in the Barcelona Metropolitan Area, hidden away or forgotten; treasures that have been part of the backdrop to our lives: the former CACI factory in Badalona, the former Gustau Gili publishing house building and the old Mercedes factory in Barcelona, Can Bagaria in Cornellà, the Espai Baronda in Esplugues, Plaça de Josep Barangé in Granollers, Vapor Codina and Plaça de Bosch Gimpera in Sabadell, the ESTAV Unihabit student residence in Sant Cugat, the Jardins de l'Auditori Can Roig i Torres in Santa Coloma and Masia Freixa in Terrassa. Many of these are at a turning point, currently unused and awaiting a new future, a new life.
The Liminar concept and the projects for these architectural spaces were chosen by architect and disseminator Núria Moliner, and choreographer and architect Toni Mira devised the dance programme. The aim is to offer a new vision of these spaces through dance, with pieces that have been specially developed for them and that link their architecture with the local area.
There will also be guided tours of the buildings offering an in-depth look at their past and present, led by students in on the Theory of Architecture programme at the Barcelona School of Architecture (UPC), and coordinated by professors Toni Ramon and Núria Moliner.
