What is La Quinzena Metropolitan Dance?
Dansa Metropolitana presents its third edition. The festival was created as a metropolitan area cultural and participatory project to bring dance to all the city's residents. Taking part in the 2020 edition are eight municipalities that have been working together on a programme involving artists’ productions and is designed to raise awareness of local, national and international talent.
La dansa no té fronteres [Dance has no borders]. This is the premise that this year's varied Dansa Metropolitana programme is based on. You will find shows offering a dialogue between various styles of dance and other disciplines, including the visual arts, sport, and street arts. Productions that speak of love and others with a strong social, feminist commitment and, above all, a good number of proposals to suit every type of audience.
For almost three weeks, dance will feature in the city’s theatres, civic centres and streets, on public transport, and even in cinemas. You will be able to take part in over 200 activities that celebrate dance as an art and an element of unity and dialogue.
The festival will finish with Tothom balla, a simultaneous choreography performed in all the cities. We invite you to take part in this collective dance that pays tribute to the great Cuban artist, Alonso.
Close to 50,000 people came and took part in the event last year. Go out onto the streets, discover the new spaces you have right on your doorstep, and enjoy this programme in which there's something for everyone.
