(sweet) (bitter) + Pulse Constellations

ZOO / Thomas Hauert + Gabriel Schenker

Share

(sweet) (bitter) is a musical poem about impossible love that Thomas Hauert interprets as the expression of a conflict between the happiness that comes from pursuing an ideal and the torment of knowing that this ideal will always remain far out of reach.

Hauert has had a company of his own since 1998 and conducts sophisticated research into movement based on improvisation and the relationship with music.

Pulse Constellations takes as its starting point the electronic music piece Pulse Music III (1978) by John McGuire, a complex work that combines myriad rhythms, tempos and melodies, forming a sequence of 24 different yet interrelated sections.

Gabriel Schenker graduated from P.AR.T.S. and went on to become one of the founders of the Busy Rocks collective. As a dancer, he has worked with Anne Teresa de Keersmaeker / Rosas, Thomas Hauert / ZOO and Eleanor Bauer, among other artists.
