A fascinating contemporary dance solo based on research into kathak, a traditional Indian dance.
In this show, Gaston Core explores kathak, a traditional dance from India, changing its most distinctive forms and dynamics, to bring it into another aesthetic space and achieve a new representation. Above brings the audience gestures reminiscent of those used to pray or connect with a spiritual realm. This solo is an expression of human nature in search of something greater than ourselves.
Gaston Core is a stage director, cultural manager, dancer and actor, and was the director of the Sala Hiroshima theatre until 2021. He then went back to directing and producing his choreographic projects. He was selected as an Aerowaves 2022 artist for his previous work, Rhino, and has been awarded two public grants to work on his next project, which is set to premiere over the course of 2023.
