With Ascent, the Sydney Dance Company brings to Barcelona a triple programme that includes Forever & Ever, by Antony Hamilton, winner of the Helpmann prize, and two new works: I Am-ness, by the artistic director of Sydney Dance, Rafael Bonachela, and The Shell, A Ghost, The Host & The Lyrebird, by the prestigious Valencian choreographer Marina Mascarell. With large doses of physicality, Ascent combines contemporary classical dance and experimentation, with great emotional power.
The Sydney Dance Company, directed by the choreographer Rafael Bonachela from La Garriga, is one of the most internationally renowned dance companies in Australia. It is directed by a Catalan dancer and choreographer who was a member of the prestigious London dance company Rambert from 1992 to 2004. In 2008, he premièred his first extensive production, 360°, for the Sydney Dance Company, and six months later he was appointed artistic director of the company.

Held by Mercat de les Flors in cooperation with Dansa Metropolitana.
