DANCED TALK: Transmissions – a danced explanation of urban dances

Guille Vidal-Ribas and Javi Casado

Share

A singular conference that combines music, audio-visuals, words and movement live on stage, to explain urban dances in all their dimensions.

This singular danced explanation combines music, audio-visuals, words and movement, live on stage, to explain urban dances in all their dimensions. Where, when and why were the urban forms of expression generated? What characterizes them? How did they get here? These are some of the questions the conference asks, as well as the impact they have had, not just in the sphere of dance, but also in popular culture as a whole from the late 20th century to the present day.

Transmissions is the result of research carried out by dancers Guille Vidal-Ribas and Javi Casado, who have devoted themselves at the same time to researching into the performing arts and the history of art, respectively. The conference includes the knowledge acquired over more than two decades as urban dancers and is combined with information taken from a large documentary base and from interviews with pioneering figures and national and international references in this field.

Activity free for schools.
