And dance... conquered cinema. The seventh art and the arts of movement show us the alliances they weave in a series of essential films. You can see them this March, as a collaboration between Dansa Metropolitana 2024 and Choreoscope Barcelona Dance Film Festival, on the Filmin streaming platform.

Calendar Girls
Sweden; 2022 - Duration: 85 min
They are magical reindeers at parties and churches, pink fluffy unicorns at Air Force reunions, and zombies at retirement homes. They are the Calendar Girls – Florida’s most dedicated dance team for women over 60. Under the veil of fake lashes and unicorn horns lurks the deeper truths of what aging women face within society. Sisterhood, love, loss – all come into play in this uplifting film about trying to age on your own terms and refusing to become invisible.

Third Act

What do you do in the third and last act of your life? And what do the seniors in other countries and cultures do when the curtain is about to fall?

Only the dance - A year at the Paris Conservatory

A total immersion in the 4th best performing arts school in the world, at the heart of the lives of these young students, invested body and soul to make their dream come true. Their names are Oscar, Alicia, Léo, Kim, Pier, Maxime, Johan, César... They are between 16 and 18 years old and are in their third year of dance training at the prestigious Conservatoire National Superieur de Musique et de Danse de Paris.

The weight of sugar

Sean Dorsey Dance: Dreaming Trans and Queer Futures

Tank Fairy

In Taiwan, "song wa si de" are workers who routinely supply gas tanks to street vendors and old residential buildings. The magical Tank Fairy delivers her tanks unlike any other - with sass, stilettos and a healthy helping of glitter. Her arrival upends the life of Jojo, a lonely ten-year-old who dreams of dancing and drag. Outcast by classmates and misunderstood by his stern, single mom, Jojo is inspired to live out loud by his fierce, propane-toting fairy godmother.

Shared Canvas

Dance and painting - two art forms meet in Shared Canvas. In a collaborative process dancer/choreographer Jonas Frey and painter/actor Cédric Pintarelli create a painting. Their common space transforms into an atelier and a dance studio in which the art forms merge together. While the movements of painting become visible as dance, the dance is captured in the paintings.
