Sempreviva

Cia. Mar Gómez

Share

This solo dance performance by Mar Gómez presents, humorously and accompanied by Marcelo Mercadante on the bandoneon, the bizarre story of a woman trapped in the sexist values of our society.

Sempreviva is the first solo dance theatre performance by the director and choreographer Mar Gómez. It is an interdisciplinary performance with live music that moves between realism and parody. Sempervivum is a perennial plant able to withstand even the most difficult growing conditions. It is a survivor. Like the protagonist of the new show by the Cia. Mar Gómez, a character who presents, humorously, the bizarre story of a woman trapped in the sexist values of today’s society. A story of resistance and liberation to and from our own limits, the ones we find it hardest to overcome.

The Cia. Mar Gómez is a dance theatre company that combines a very personal choreographic style with characteristics like theatricality, narrative, the poetics of images, gesture, physicality and, above all, a great sense of humour. The company’s shows in theatres and the street have aroused an extraordinary degree of synergy with audiences, and they have made it a point of reference in Spanish dance theatre.
