A rethinking of traditional popular backstep dance, originally religious, from a modern point of view, through contemporary dance and electronic music, and with a gender-based slant.

ÀER is a piece featuring contemporary dance and electronic music that rethinks traditional popular backstep dancing and its music from an modern, personal and subjective point of view, understanding it as a experiential, structural and social reference of the moment, with a gender based slant. ÀER reflects on the origins and execution of the backstep, religious in origin, of a solemn nature and originally done, according to some experts, by men only. ÀER approaches religion with the belief and/or confidence of group unity, from the desire for something tangible, as the will takes a leading role through persistent work to achieve something. Thus, its solemn serious nature is maintained to construct a choreography in which gender becomes less important in order to be danced by men and women. The project for ÀER won the third edition of the Delfí Colomé Prize. It was a candidate at the 2020 Max prizes for the Best choreography, and runner-up in the 2020 Dansacat Prizes for the soundscape.
