Apariciones Sonoras

Amaranta Velarde

Share

This is the latest show by choreographer and performer Amaranta Velarde. In Apariciones Sonoras the objects, the space and the body will reveal how they sound to us, exploring the phenomenon of synaesthesia.

Apariciones Sonoras explores the choreographic and emotional dimensions between sound and body. Taking as a starting point the phenomenon of synaesthesia, sound is given shape and plasticity while the body, space and objects are given sounds. The line of perception between what is generated and how it is produced is in a constant state of drift and flux, opening up the audience’s sensory fields and allowing them to generate different associations and meanings. The prestidigitation and total transformation of a body that establishes a dialogue with multiple sound presences will act as a bridge between dreams and wakefulness.

Amaranta Velarde works in the field of the performing arts as a dancer and choreographer. She graduated at CODARTS (University of Dance, Rotterdam) in 2004 and since then she has worked intensely with the choreographer Bruno Listopad, among other creators. After her professional activity in the Netherlands, in 2011 she moved to Barcelona where she started creating her own choreographic pieces: Lo Natural, Hacia una estética de la buena voluntad and Mix-en-scene. Besides executing her projects, she works with creators like Cris Blanco, el Conde de Torrefiel and Ona Maciejewska, and she was a member of the ARTAS group of La Poderosa (2013-2016).

The Sala Hiroshima offers a discussion after the show, Meet the artist with Amaranta Velarde, on 7 March.
