Aurora Bauzà & Pere Jou

The artistic device Artefactes escènics brings the pupils of the Escola d’Arts en Viu face to face with the practice of the artists Aurora Bauzà and Pere Jou, who work on the relationship between the body and the voice.

Artefactes escènics is an artistic device addressed to students at the Escola d’Arts en Viu, who come face to face with an artist and his conceptual practice. It lasts a whole term. Educational activity not open to the public.

In Artefactes escènics Aurora Bauzà and Pere Jou work on the relationship between the body and the voice, based on dynamics that make people aware of diaphragmatic breathing for a good emission of sound, avoiding wear and tear on the vocal chords. From here, increasingly less obvious and intuitive relationships are presented, in the search for a body that breaks away from its condition as the support for the emission of sound. They also explore the onstage/poetic potential of the dynamics presented.

Aurora Bauzà and Pere Jou are composers who work with the body. They are resident artists at the Graner-Centre de creació de dansa i arts vives i Can Gassol-Centre d'Arts Escèniques in Mataró in 2020 and the resident company of the Festival TNT i L’Estruch in Sabadell in 2021. The main object of their research is the human voice and its relationship with the body and movement, and the processes of creating meaning. Their ideas are inspired by artists like Alessandro Sciarroni, Maud le Pladec, Sol Picó and Sonia Gómez, with whom they have worked as composers and/or performers.

Aurora Bauzà and Pere Jou present the show I AM (T)HERE as part of Dansa Metropolitana, on 6 March, at 7:30 pm at the MACBA.
