INDALA

DAVID VENTO DANCE THEATRE

Share

In the award-winning piece INDALA three dancers combine dance, physical theatre and circus to construct a piece that, by manipulating metal hoops and Cyr wheels, unearths the primitive and contemporary human being.

INDALA proposes an onstage journey in which the human being is unearthed in their primitive and contemporary forms, the influence of rites in the transmission of social images and how these constitute an instinctive defence of the one’s own self against the unilateral development of intelligence and its antisocial impact.

Based on breakdance, DAVID VENTO DANCE THEATRE is a multidisciplinary company that combines dance, physical theatre and circus. David Vento had already been a member of urban dance companies like Dani Panullo Dance Co. or Circle of Trust and of troupes in different dance styles. He had also taken part in the artistic creation programme Watermill Summer Program: a Laboratory of Performance, at the Watermill Center, New York, where he began working with the director, set designer and dramaturge Robert Wilson. David Vento decided to create his own company after winning, in 2018, the 1st Urban Facyl Prize and 1st prize in the Young Creators of Madrid competition, for his piece INDALA. In 2020 he won the Prize for the Best Night-time Show for his piece Neanderthal.
