The new edition of Dansa Metropolitana is once again embracing contemporary creation through its co-productions, supporting companies and artists who explore various approaches, engage with the local area and expand the boundaries of dance. This year’s festival is supporting seven projects that can be seen in different metropolitan cities in March.
These co-productions seek to support the growth of projects in the initial stages of development and strengthen the professional dance ecosystem. They were selected through an artistic committee of programme designers from the participating cities, who assessed submissions and together decided on the final choices, ensuring a diverse perspective.
In Raquel Klein’s Negro Luz, the creator explores a universe where body and light become theatre. The piece offers a sensory journey that crosses zones of visibility and shadow, placing the audience before a space of constant transformation.
The piece can be seen at the Roca Umbert Fàbrica de les Arts in Granollers on 8 March, and at L’Estruch in Sabadell on 21 March, as part of a free double bill.
The Esbart Manresà group are revisiting traditions from a contemporary perspective, building bridges between memory and the present with Mil primaveres. The piece connects community, urban landscapes and collective celebration.
It will be performed on Av. Primavera in L’Hospitalet (in front of the Mercat Municipal de la Florida) on 14 March, and on 21 March as part of the Territori Dansa programme in the same city.
Artists Núria Dalmau and Valeria Pisati present SNÖSTJÄRNA, a dystopian tragicomedy in which the body, image and repetition reveal the absurdity of modern reality. Inspired by the comic IKEA Dream Makers by Cristian Robles. From March 12 to 15 at the Antic Teatre in Barcelona.
Métrica bárbara will offer onstage reflection that combines philosophy, humour and movement in Platón se fue de escena, exploring the relationship between thought and performance and inviting the audience to take part in the game, on 19 and 20 March, at the SAT! Sant Andreu Teatre in Barcelona.
Part performed lecture, part choreographic piece, Manuel Rodríguez’s Otra cosa que no es una conferencia questions knowledge transfer formats and opens up a hybrid space between words and action. You’ll have three days to see it at the Mercat de les Flors in Barcelona, from 20 to 22 March.

Finally, choreographer Mari Paula is offering a world where nature and artifice engage in dialogue through stage devices that expand the presence of the body in Lake Machine. Where and when? At the Teatre Principal in Terrassa on 22 March.
