Ballant ballàvem by Cia. Laia Santanach
Laia Santanach presents an energetic and dynamic solo. Ballant ballàvem is an invitation to play in the artist’s improvisational worldand a poetic, lively, and explosive piece. In Ballant ballàvem, the visual play takes the form of words in motion, danced expressions and composed sensations and states. The piece explores the parallel between chosen gestures and their apparent meaning, with each word illustrating a movement. Premiered at Sismògraf 2017, the piece won Best Performance at the 15m2 Festival in 2023.
Laia Santanach has worked with various companies before moving into choreography. Since 2006, she has collaborated with groups including Plan B, Pepe Hevia Danza, Susan Kempster, Trànsit Dansa, Roberto G. Alonso, Elephant in the Black Box, Teresa Nieto en Compañía, La Petita Malumaluga, Cia. Vero Cendoya, and Gelabert-Azzopardi. She began choreographing in 2013 with notable success. Tímid by Cia. Magí Serra
A dance piece focusing on those moments of transit and waiting in public spaces, observing someone's everyday situations, which have become impersonal, disconnected, and empty.
The works of creator, performer and dancer Magí Serra revolve around concepts such as fragility, detail, support, risk, and catharsis, exploring movement through partnering, rhythm and tradition. He creates performances for theatre settings as well as street and unconventional spaces. His works have premiered at festivals including Fira Mediterrània de Manresa, Sismògraf, Fira de Tàrrega and La Caldera. Serra is a versatile performer who has worked with some of the most active creators on the Catalan scene, including Roberto Olivan, Roser López Espinosa and GN|MC. He has also collaborated on the projects COSSOC and Brots Transhumants, in the latter case with musician Arnau Obiols. In addition, he studies Feldenkrais and Klein Technique to support his movement practice.

This performance is presented as part of Escena BDC.
