Four performers defy gravity with aerial movements that embody the essence of casteller culture: strength, balance, courage and common sense, as they build a horizontal human tower. Fargar is a historical journey through vertical dance, from the ball de valencians and the muixeranga to contemporary castells, or vertical human towers. Manu Sabaté’s staging and live music create a celebratory event that shifts between tradition and modernity.
Cia. Berta Baliu was founded in 2022 with the creation Fargar, although Berta Baliu has been creating vertical dances since 2014. Her previous productions include Alçaki, Cubelli and Rosella. With this first piece, presented at Fira Mediterrània, Mostra d’Igualada and in various cities across Catalonia and France, Baliu has established herself as a leading creator in this discipline.
