L E V E - A Light and Easy Vanishing Event

SIBERIA – Paloma Muñoz

Share

Choreographer Paloma Muñoz considers how this lightness of our times manifests itself in the body, how dance survives the abandonment of matter and how this affects artistic practice.

L E V E - A Light and Easy Vanishing Event is a choreographic project that takes the idea of lightness and its contradictions to investigate inconsistency, fleetingness and temporariness in relation to our body and our interactions. Where does the body stand in this context? And dance? What is the minimum, the lightest there must be, for them to exist? How do we deal with the weight of bodies, of sweat, of choreography, of repetition? How much does an 8 weigh? How many crucial decisions am I prepared to put up with? How much weight does a commitment entail? LEVE answers all these questions.

Siberia is a contemporary dance company led by Paloma Muñoz, whose proposal is the constant provocation of the senses. Its dance is articulated, plastic, highly physical and demanding. There is something excessive, meticulous and sensual about it. It can be elegant and brutal at one and the same time. The essence of Siberia is in the contrast between the abstraction of the concepts that inspire them and the sweat of the bodies they work with.

The company will host a post-performance discussion on 21 March.
