La (des)espera

On hold. A labyrinth with no way out, oscillating between apathy and despair. Busy lines, endless songs, seconds, minutes, hours spent in constant frustration. La (des)espera explores the harshness and absurdity of bureaucratic structures that reflect the failings of an inhumane administrative system. An exuberant framework of procedures provokes powerlessness and resignation. A world where the coldness of data dictates the direction of our society. Premiered at L’Estruch in Sabadell, 2024.

Sílvia Cepero, Iris Claramunt, and Claudia Auzinger form the collective behind El Desvío, which, as its name suggests, was born from a turning point in their lives: two natives of Barcelona and one of Vienna who chose to diverge from their professional paths and fully immerse themselves in dance and creation. As performers and creators, the members of El Desvío develop projects centred on dance, exploring its qualities as a tool for reflection, analysis, and critique.

Performance coordinated by Escena BDC.
