Musseque

Compartir

More than a piece for four dancers, Musseque is a tribute to the neighbourhood where its creator grew up: a vibrant space full of community, music and movement. Onstage, these experiences are transformed into dance. Memory recalls the Angola civil war, but within this context that a force of resistance and creativity also emerges: kuduro, a style that turns struggle into energy and celebration.
Fábio Januário (1988, Luanda) moved to Portugal in 2002 and graduated in dance in 2015. Specialising in urban styles, he teaches workshops and masterclasses in kuduro across Europe. He has performed at festivals such as NOS Alive, Rock in Rio and MEO Sudoeste and collaborated with artists including Buraka Som Sistema, Benjamin Prins and Piny. Since 2022, he has performed in CARCAÇA and other works by Marco da Silva Ferreira.

The company offers an after-show discussion by Inés Sybille.
