Obsequio / A medio camino

Drawing inspiration from periods when dance was offered as a tribute to honour kings and queens, Obsequio is presented as a gift to the audience, performers’ true monarchs. This solo explores the act of presenting oneself and the shared experience of movement as a form of dialogue. Through the body, particularly the arms and hands, the piece embraces vulnerability and invites us to celebrate individuality, pleasure, and seduction without restraint. Obsequio won the Me, Myself and I Award at the Certamen Coreográfico de Madrid in 2022.
Johann Pérez Viera is a Venezuelan dancer and audiovisual creator based in Barcelona, and has been part of LaCerda’s creative team since 2016. This contemporary dance company is known for its strong aesthetic identity, rooted in the nature of ritual dances and the poetic dimension of dance.

Three performers take the stage, each gesture carrying memory and a voice that unites, permeates and sustains them. From the ‘I’ to the ‘we’. From conflict to play, from individual rhythm to shared pulse. A medio camino brings together flamenco and contemporary urban dance to create a dialogue between traditional flamenco and krumping and breakdancing. These are languages rich with history, struggle and identity that are calling to be heard and named. Bodies speak, shout and encounter one another within a shared space.
Agnés Sales and Héctor Plaza lead a contemporary dance company in Barcelona that blends breakdancing, contemporary dance and physical theatre.
