Opening performance

Due to the weather forecast, the event has been relocated and will no longer take place at Plaça de la Cultura. The new venue will be La Farga Centre d’Activitats (c. Barcelona, 2).

For the first time at Dansa Metropolitana, the opening performance is a creation conceived specifically to kick off the festival: ELLES. Directed by Hansel Cereza and choreographed by Barbarana Pons, the piece focuses on how older women experience, perceive and challenge the stereotypes associated with old age. Through dance, it makes visible the impact of ageism and the vulnerability that often runs through female bodies at this stage of life.

Far from being a burden, the feminisation of old age is reclaimed as a source of strength, experience and collective wisdom. ELLES is a cry against invisibility, a perspective that connects past and present through movement, allowing bodies to flow freely in rhythm with consciousness. It is a community-based project that advocates for a future in which ageing is synonymous with autonomy, dignity and well-being.

With Eli Ayala and Juana García as the leading performers, the piece also involves the associations Amalvígia - Grup de Dones de Bellvitge, Associació de Dones de Sant Josep, Grup de Dones del Gornal, Associació de Dones de Sta. Eulàlia, Grup de Dones de La Bòbila, as well as the dance schools La Capitana - Espacio Flamenco, Ruski Dance Company, Rookies Dance Studio i Street Dance Area.
