Touch Base / Zak / Grand Finale

Three choreographic perspectives come together on the same stage to explore the power of the body, gesture and encounter. Marne van Opstal’s Touch Base reflects on urges and human connection, inspired by the music of Bach; Zak, by Fattoumi and Lamoureux, creates a rhythmic play using boomwhackers; and Hofesh Shechter’s Grand Finale exudes physical energy and emotional intensity through a distinctive choreographic language.

For more than 40 years, Ballet Junior de Genève has been training young performers in collaboration with leading choreographers on the contemporary scene. Each season, around forty dancers aged 17 to 23 take part in intense creative processes within this project, which serves as a true springboard into the professional world. Despite the youth of its performers, the company stands out for its artistic and technical strength, placing it on a par with top-tier professional ensembles. The project was given the Swiss Performing Arts Award in 2021 for its exemplary training model.
