Trainer training: Dansa Palestina, el dabke

Due to the situation in the Middle East, Sharaf DarZaid's training for trainers will be taught by Malik Raed Hussein Naser.

This train-the-trainer programme is part of a project initiated by the Catalan Association for Peace (ACP) in collaboration with the Popular Art Centre of Palestine. It invites dance groups, schools and centres in Catalonia to participate in an artistic international solidarity project.

The project is led by Sharaf DarZaid, a Palestinian choreographer and dancer and artistic director of the Popular Art Centre. It offers schools and dance groups the opportunity to join a collective artistic process based on a shared choreography connecting Palestinian dabke with other dance languages.

The project is divided into three phases:

1. Intensive training led by Sharaf DarZaid, where participants will learn the fundamentals of dabke, the traditional Palestinian dance. The training introduces an initial choreography intended for participants to teach their groups and schools, multiplying the project’s reach.
2. Creation and recording of a dance music video (end of 2026).
3. Public presentation of the performance resulting from the process (2027).

The training is aimed at dance schools, centres and groups.
