Invoking the umuko, an ancestral healing tree, Dorothée Munyaneza invites five young Rwandan artists to weave the legacy of the past with the boldness of the future. Always returning to her homeland, Munyaneza listens to those shaping the Rwanda of tomorrow without forgetting the past. Beneath the umuko, they gather and tell stories through the body, poetry, music and song in a celebration of love, memory and joy.
Winner of the 2024 European Dance Salavisa Award, Dorothée Munyaneza is a multidisciplinary artist based in Marseille, combining music, singing, text and movement to explore rupture as a creative force. She leads the company Kadidi, which has partnered with leading international artists and is associated with the Théâtre National de Chaillot, Maison de la Danse and the Lyon Dance Biennial. Kadidi also develops residencies such as the Fondation Camargo in France.
