Carmina Burana

The first production of Maria Rovira's new company, Crea Dance Company, is a challenge: a version of Carmina Burana's famous Carl Orff with more than a hundred artists on stage - including dancers, musicians and a choir formed from chorals from different metropolitan cities. A bet for the spectacular as well as for the sensitivity and alternation of emotions that concur in Orff’s music score.

Classical and contemporary dance embrace this Carmina Burana, a song to life, an exaltation of the senses.

Flamingos

In his new creation, Albert Quesada fuses the world of flamenco to take stereotypes further from a contemporary perspective. Flamenco serves as a mirror for Quesada and inspire him as a way of understanding folk singing, music and dance as they have developed through so many cultures and regions. The trip will begin in our own bodies, in our individual story as dancers, in what we have been trained, what makes us passionate about and in what ways we can share it. What is our own flamenco? Adds the choreographer.

La mujer habitada

The flamenco language of Leonor Leal, the contemporary look of Víctor Zambrana and the artistic universe of Joaquín Jara go hand in hand with a street piece about the female body that, like a tree, sinks its roots to the firm ground and rises to the sky, connecting the earthy with the divine.

La mujer habitada is a trip to the inner female identity, to show her a the force of creation.

Se prohíbe el cante

A while ago, not so far away, in hundreds of Andalusian taverns one could still read a poster saying "el cante is prohibited." The cause -a battle cry, Juan de Loxa would say-, a moan from the streets, the emotion that did not beat with the status quo or awaited any applause, it was just the flamenco simply occurring, a beat. From this, as a generator of creation, arose the idea of an atypical flamenco percussionist and an anxious bailaora to embark in a silenced singing concert with beats and dance. Simply because it touches us, it moves us.

Dancing with Frogs

A choreographic reflection on the world of masculinity, the other half, the biological complement of the female. What is masculinity without femininity? Are there limits between one and the other? How does the 21st century man live, feel and relate to the world? And, above all, how should a man be? What do you have to do to be one? As suggested by the title of the show, Sol Picó dances with frogs, but also with lumbosexuals, neo thugs, metrosexuals and androgens in an acid, dirty, thrilling and tragicomic adventure.

Un cuerpo sin vergüenza/shamless body

We reach adolescence as a tin robot, ready for everything except to understand what is s/he like. As in a science-fiction movie, we tend to change to become somebody different. Sometimes we shrug our shoulders and lower our eyes to hide this metamorphosis. Other times, we challenge the whole world with a high head. Angela and Koldo want want to go back to this life stage and, from the skin, start building a home full of sensations, a safe and fertile place where the ideas and desires of our imagination sprout.

Éxodo

Éxodo is a contemporary flamenco show that goes into the painful feeling of escape, the ongoing exodus of the human being to adapt and survive. A scenic cry, evoking the pain of leaving and the uncertainty of the future, the exodus stubbornly faithful to humanity. Risk, strength and determination are the ingredients to be able to jump into the void and embrace the only alternative we have to change our destiny.

El amor brujo

One of the greatest models of current flamenco, Israel Galván faces an essential score of Spanish music, El amor brujo by Manuel de Falla. He does it alone, without orchestra, stage or dancing body, focusing on the vibration of the strings of a piano, in the soul of the broken voice of a singer. For Galván, the dance is transformation, and in the Falla teacher he has found the key to transform himself into a pure bailaor.
