Inspired on the figure of the cotton spinner and based on the testimonies of the workers in spinning mills, Unravel questions the dichotomy between modernization and dehumanization, between the automatism of actions and human behaviour.

Programmed by Barcelona Districte Cultural.

Inspired on the figure of the cotton spinner and based on the testimonies of the women who worked in spinning mills, Unravel questions the dichotomy between modernization and dehumanization, between the automatism of actions and human behaviour. In this piece human fragility is shown, unravelling the collective memory of a generation, of which we are the heirs, like the perfectly braided thread formed of a thousand cotton fibres. Through the context of spinning mills, industrialization and, in short, an important part of our history, the intention is to contrast the two sides of progress. A dichotomy that is present and transverse in many different societies and cultures. It is undeniably a context with its light and shade that gives us the opportunity to learn where we come from and also to understand what other societies are experiencing at present. This historically rigorous piece moves between themes as current as labour and gender conditions offering a representation through a contemporary lens.
