The company will be holding a talk following the performance on Friday 10 March.

This dance piece that addresses ideas of permanence and insistence is performed only by women, and is constructed around the sounds of the dancers’ bodies. It brings to mind processes of transformation and repetition of nature, without making reference to the representation on stage. The movement of the dancers’ bodies, and the movement of their arms thrust violently and uncontrollably, like columns waving in various directions, produce sounds. And so unfolds a poetics of bodies that resist while standing tall, a collective body of women that show their ancestral resilience as a way of being in the world.

Poliana Lima is a Brazilian choreographer, dancer and teacher living in Madrid. She produced her first creation, the short piece Palo en la rueda [Spanner in the works], in 2011. A year later, she started working with the Lithuanian choreographer Ugne Dievaityte, with pieces that toured a number of national and international festivals. An associate artist at the Centro Conde Duque de Madrid, Poliana Lima represented Spain at Aerowaves 2021. Her latest piece, Las cosas se mueven pero no dicen nada, will be performed at the Festival Dias da Dança, in Porto, and in France, at the Centre National de la Danse in Paris.
